The Warm Colours of Hashing
Despite a dark and threatening sky, the ladies arrived on cue, complete with gas cylinder and the colours of Rangoli to begin the arduous task of tea making, masala tea that is, by the near clear waters flowing by at Lagong. The colours were then mixed and tested on any white T-shirt of anybody who happened to be around a bit too early on the late afternoon of the 7th day of April 2006 for the annual Holi Run.

Hashers got their piping hot masala tea and well-stuffed samosars. It was then a hectic session of colouring one another. Bare bodies, hair (or no hair), T-shirts and shorts, all got their share of colouring. It was a day when men ran away from the ladies and all played or became the happy 'victims' of colour in motion, away from the liability of dirtying anyone's premises.

After a quick group photo of the few Hashers who braved further colouring, the pack started off for the weekly run on papers already laid by the Hare and his co-hares. The trail took to the main road and it was a strange sight for the other road users seeing the likes of colorful T-shirts, punky hair and even stranger and odd body colours.

Run before the run

Colouring in motion
The brave few posed for a photo session

Then it was away from the paved road, into trackless new trail, over tricky terrain, moist undergrowth, up and down the slopes until the live Hash signs in the form of the co-hares directed the back pack to a shorter route. The front runners had a longer loop carved out for them. Most made it in good time back to the Beer Wagon
Up and Up
Down and down
At the circle, the Hare and co-hares were tried and judged. Verdict: a good run appreciated by both the fast and not so fast Hashers. The guests were then duly on-downed by an attentive crowd of Hashers

It was then dinner time by the cascading waters and under the watchful eye of a nearly full moon. It was perhaps the expectation of such merriment and exotic ambience that brought in a good number of RSC Hashers and dried up the beer flow by 9.30pm.
All ears
